This sideboard incorporates principles from Hans J. Wegner, one of the world’s most beloved designers, whose design philosophy I was introduced to during my internship at Martin Björnson AB (@martinbjornsondesignstudio) in Malmö. The design focuses on “removing material where it’s unnecessary,” which is evident in the legs of the sideboard, while maintaining the honesty of the design.
This honesty is expressed by "separating the bearing element from the borne" and by clearly showcasing "the logic in the construction." Custom handmade fittings made of solid steel support the shelf, and solid steel rods hold the tabletop, which is designed to be easily adjustable to allow for aesthetic changes.
The materials used are solid white-washed oak and solid steel.
